South Lake Tahoe resident Patrick Solomon was previously an inmate at the El Dorado County jail in South Lake Tahoe and allegedly shoved the officer in the back while he was shopping for groceries about 3:50 p.m., according to a statement from police.
Solomon called the officer by name and launched a “verbal barrage” at the officer during the alleged assault, according to the statement.
Following a report of the incident, Officer Jake Herminghaus arrived at the grocery store and arrested Solomon, who allegedly resisted while being taken into custody.
Solomon received “minor lacerations” to his head during the incident, according to the statement.
He was taken to Barton Memorial Hospital for treatment prior to being booked into jail.
He was arrested on suspicion of misdemeanor counts of resisting arrest and battery on a custodial officer.
Solomon remained in custody Monday afternoon, according to El Dorado County booking records.
