A Placerville man has been arrested on suspicion of continual sexual abuse of a child 15 years after the incidents allegedly took place.
Benjamin Jerry Burmley, 69, was arrested at his home on Newtown Road on July 25.
An investigation was launched after the victim, now an adult, reported to Placerville Police that she had been the victim of continual sexual abuse in 1997. She named the suspect as Burmley. After the investigation, Burmley was taken into custody.
He is currently being held on a charge of continual sexual abuse of a child with three enhancements related to previous felony convictions with prison time. His bail is listed as $2,040,000.
