Cory McGee, 22, had been traveling eastbound at an unknown rate of speed at 2:15 a.m. just west of Indian Lane when, for an unknown reason, he turned to the right and drifted off the road, said California Highway Patrol Officer Quinn Cuthbertson. McGee lost control off the car, drifting into the opposing lane and off the north edge of the road, hitting a mailbox and traveling further north.
The car went airborne, Cuthbertson said, and the roof struck a utility pole and a tree, located next to each other. The car “came to a rest on its wheels facing west,” he said. There were no witnesses of the initial accident.
Upon responding to the accident, McGee was life flighted to Sutter Roseville Medical Center. He died the next day.
