The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible drowning in the area of Pinecone Campground at 1:45 p.m., a press release stated.
Patrol, boat and Dive Team EDSO units immediately responded, joined by units from Cal Fire, County Fire, the U.S. Forest Service, El Dorado Irrigation District Lake Patrol and Park Rangers and a CalStar helicopter.
Upon arrival, family members advised responders that the family had been swimming when one of the adults began struggling. Before anyone could reach him, he disappeared.
Patrol boats and the helicopter began the search. At 3:15 p.m., the body of 34-year-old Ramiro Nunez Magana was located about 30 feet from the shoreline. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
