A male subject allegedly fought with El Dorado County Sheriff’s deputies who were responding to a 911 call of a battery in progress on Monday at an El Dorado Hills home on Kettering Place.

An unnamed deputy arrived around 4:53 p.m., according to the EDSO daily log. “The suspect was verbally threatening and uncooperative,” Lt. Tim Becker said. “His body language was aggressive and threatening upon the deputies’ arrival.”

The suspect, Nathan Kilgore, 29, was described as muscular and claimed to the deputy that he was a Marine with combat experience.

He allegedly charged the deputy, who retreated and commanded him to stop. When he did, the deputy pulled his Taser out and threatened to use it. Kilgore stopped advancing and got into a prone position on the ground.

The deputy holstered his Taser and began to handcuff Kilgore, who resisted and started to get up.

“They grappled for a while until the subject began to overpower the deputy,” Becker said. “The deputy again retreated, drew his Taser and this time fired the Taser. The subject fell to the ground from the effects of the Taser and although he was verbally abusive, threatening and acted as if he was going to get up again,” Kilgore complied with the deputy’s commands. He stayed on the ground after the deputy advised he would use the Taser again if the Kilgore tried to get up again.

Kilgore stayed on the ground while another deputy arrived and handcuffed him. He was arrested on suspicion of obstruction of justice and later released on $3,000 bail. The original reporting party and Kilgore’s parents did not wish for any charges to be filed, Becker said, only wanting Kilgore to be controlled and provided with mental health assistance.
