ACSO confirmed that the body of Roderick Paul Clifton, 44, was found in an area of heavy snow in Alpine County, a press release stated. The cause of death has not yet been determined and an investigation is ongoing.
Paula Lane, 46, was found alive and is being treated at a hospital for non-life threatening injuries.
The couple had been visiting Clifton’s relatives in Citrus Heights and were traveling to their home in Gardnerville, Nev. when they went missing in their 1989 Jeep Cherokee on Nov. 29. A search effort was mobilized from their starting point to their home town, with a large area of El Dorado County on the way to Nevada being searched.
