Motorcycle fatality in Greenwood

By From page A1 | April 16, 2014

A collision between a car and a motorcycle in Greenwood resulted in the death of a man on April 11.

Franklin Jensen, 39, of Greenwood, was turning left onto Ricci Road from Greenwood Road at about 7:05 p.m. in his 1982 Toyota pickup, said CHP Officer Quinn Cuthbertson. Meanwhile, Garry Renner, 29, of Garden Valley, was approaching Jensen on a 1998 Honda Shadow motorcycle. He attempted to pass over the double yellow lines around Jensen’s Toyota.

Although Renner applied brakes to the motorcycle, he hit the truck on the left rear bumper. Due to the speed and force of the collision, the truck rolled over, landing on its wheels.

Renner’s helmet came off in the collision. He sustained injuries that would prove to be fatal early the next morning. Jensen sustained minor injuries.
