The Hangtown Harmonica Championship is the highlight of the Cowboys and Cornbread celebration July 21 at Rainbow Orchards.
Ten harmonica musicians compete for fabulous prizes. First place gets $150, an engraved championship trophy, and the opportunity to perform during the Art in the Orchard event in September. Second place gets $75 and the same opportunity to perform. Third place gets $50 and the same opportunity to perform.
Pre-registration with a $10 registration fee is required as spots are limited to 10. Musicians can use any type or brand of harmonica and may play in any style of music, but blues players must use a recognizable beat. No electronic accompaniment is permitted. All contestants may play for no more than 5 minutes.
Entries can be submitted to the El Dorado Country Chamber of Commerce online at cowboysandcornbread.com, in person at 542 Main Street or by phone at 621-5885.
All proceeds go to support the programs of the El Dorado County Visitors Authority and the El Dorado County Chamber of Commerce.
