El Dorado County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 3300 block of Gold Nugget Court for a possible assault with a deadly weapon and possible suicide, a press release stated.
Upon arrival, an elderly man and elderly woman were found deceased in the residence, both apparently from gunshot wounds. They were identified Thursday as Gene Bunch, 83, and Barbara Dozier, 85. The two were not married, but had lived together for “many years,” a press release stated.
EDSO Crime Scene Investigators and detectives began an investigation, also joined by Coroner investigators for a second investigation to determine identities and cause of death. Murder-suicide and other possibilities are still being considered.
Both investigations are ongoing. Further information will be released by EDSO as it is received. There is no information to suggest an immediate danger to public safety.
