New Morning Youth and Family Services will host its first annual Community Yard Sale Extravaganza on Saturday, May 10.

More than just a typical yard sale, this event will feature live music all day by several talented teenagers and pre-teens. Additionally, The Bad Apples, a junior roller derby league from Sacramento (girls aged 11-17), will be making an appearance. And, a competitive cheer team from El Dorado Hills, Cheer Xperience, will be there showing its spirit for El Dorado County through cheer exhibitions.

Several members of the New Morning Board of Directors along with other community volunteers will staff the event. They will all be wearing green bandanas for easy identification.

The event will open to the public at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the El Dorado County Office of Education, 6767 Green Valley Road, Placerville. Live music will kick off immediately at the start of the event. Cheer Xperience will be performing short routines throughout the day. The Bad Apples derby league will appear from approximately 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The event will conclude at 2 p.m.

The organization is also accepting item donations on Friday, May 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the same location.

This event is a great example of adults and youth coming together in the community to support the homeless children in El Dorado County. Proceeds from the sale will go toward securing a professionally designed Website for New Morning Youth and Family Services, and improving access and service to the public.

New Morning Youth and Family Services provides the county’s only shelter for runaway, homeless or abandoned youth and delivers more counseling services to school-aged children than any other provider in the county. The mission of New Morning Youth and Family Services is to provide quality, professional social services to enhance the lives of Western Slope El Dorado County youth and their families.
