New Year’s Day closures for county offices announced

Some offices throughout El Dorado County will be closed, Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2013 due to New Year’s Day, a state and federal holiday. Here’s a look at what local residents may expect:

All schools in El Dorado County will be closed for Winter Break.

The Placerville Police Department office will be closed Dec. 28 through Jan. 1. For emergency calls, dial 911. For non-emergency police calls, call 530-642-5280.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office offices will be closed on Jan. 1. For emergency calls, dial 911. For non-emergency calls, call 530-621-5655.

The offices of the Fire Protection District will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1. For emergency calls, dial 911. For non-emergency fire and medical calls, call 530-647-5250.

All branches of the post office will be closed on Jan. 1. There will be no mail delivery.

El Dorado Transit buses will not run on Jan. 1.The transit office will be closed.

All Placerville city offices will be closed Dec. 28 through Jan. 1 for furlough and the holiday.

County offices will be closed on Jan. 1. All branches of the county library will be closed Dec. 31 and Jan.1.

County courts will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 1.

El Dorado Disposal Service will not pick up garbage on Jan. 1, Garbage pickup will occur one day later than regularly scheduled; so Tuesday pickup will happen on Wednesday, Wednesday pickups will occur on Thursday, etc. The office and transfer station will be closed on Jan. 1, 2013.

El Dorado Irrigation District offices will be closed on New Year’s Day.

Banks will be closed for the holiday. However, some banks have branches in local supermarkets, and these may remain open. Check with your branch.

The offices of the Mountain Democrat will close at 3 p.m. on Dec. 31 and be closed on New Year’s Day. A paper will be published for Dec. 31.
