N. Bruce Ashwill, a commercial real estate entrepreneur and businessman who owned a ranch in Shingle Springs, died Sept. 16 of Parkinson’s disease. He was 76.
Born in Lyndon, Kansas, Ashwill graduated from UCLA on the GI Bill after serving in the Army. He sold insurance before going into real estate. Over the course of this life, Ashwill started 10 different companies including the third largest commercial real estate company in California called Ashwill-Burke. He also developed and constructed retail centers and office buildings, started clubs and organizations, and trained thousands of people in the real estate profession.
Ashwill leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Barbara, along with three children, eight grand-children, and two brothers.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 8 at Discovery Hills Church, 4270 Shingle Springs Drive, Shingle Springs. A reception will follow at the Serrano Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Discovery Hills Youth Center, 4270 Shingle Springs Drive, Shingle Springs, CA 95682.
