The governing board of the Gold Trail Union School District has an opening for trustee. Serving as a trustee can be a rewarding experience. The position involves a variety of aspects. Regular Board meetings are held the third Thursday of each month, with occasional special meetings called. Some personal time is required for study and growth, such as reading policies, attending district, state and/or national meetings. Attendance at school functions helps broaden perspectives.
Interested parties are invited to submit a brief letter of interest address to: Janet Barbieri, Board President, 1575 Old Ranch Road, Placerville, CA 95667.
The letter should address the following points:
• Affiliation to the Gold Trail Union School District
• Why serving as a trustee of the governing board is appealing
• Confirmation that the applicant is 18 years of age or older, a citizen of the state, a resident of the school district and a registered voter, who is not disqualified by the Constitution or laws of the state from holding a civil office, is eligible to be elected or appointed a member of a governing board of a school district without further qualification.
The deadline for submitting a signed letter of interest is Aug. 30, 2012 by 4 p.m.
The board will convene at a special meeting on Sept. 6 at 6 p.m. in the Gold Trail School Library Media Center to interview candidates, make its selection and forward the recommendation of trustee to the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors. Once affirmed by the county board and sworn in by President Barbieri, this director will take and hold office just as if he or she were elected to the position.
If you have any questions about what being a member of the school board might require of you in terms of time, commitment and responsibility, please feel free to contact the Superintendent Joe Murchison at jmurchison@gtusd.org or by calling 530-626-3194.
