PPD removes homeless camps

The Placerville Police Department, with help from other City of Placerville workers, worked to remove illegal homeless camps on Aug. 1.

The coordinated effort began at 10:30 a.m., a press release stated, and targeted camps in the 1600 and 1700 block of Broadway, as well as Lumsden Park. About 45 yards of trash and debris were left behind and picked up by four inmate workers.

According to the press release, PPD believes the previous occupiers have moved to Hangtown Haven, a temporary homeless camp.
