Rattlesnake registration due June 22

By From page A7 | June 14, 2013

Hangtown Kennel Club’s final Rattlesnake Avoidance Clinic for this year is on June 29-30 in the Placerville area with a registration deadline of June 22.

Rattlesnakes are common in the county, and reports of sightings and bites are up. Treatment is costly and their bite (if left untreated) is often fatal to dogs. Since rattlesnakes have a unique smell, a distinct look and a very distinguishable sound, training a dog to recognize it in each of these senses gives the dog triple protection.
