Rubes cartoonist to appear here
The creative mind behind the Rubes cartoon will appear at the Mountain Democrat 6-7:30 Friday, Dec. 10.
The free event is described by cartoonist Leigh Rubin as "fun" and "fast paced."
"The main focus of my presentation is on maintaining creativity and staying inspired all the while having to meet the daily deadline that creating a cartoon demands," Rubin told the Mountain Democrat in an e-mail.
One doesn't have to be a cartoonist to draw (no pun intended) creative inspiration from Rubin's talk and visual presentation. Rubin's advice on maintaining creativity will help anyone who relies on the creative process, whether a person is a writer, an artist, a teacher or a business person.
"Of course, because it's a cartoon program (I use my visuals) always aim for a lot of laughs too," Rubin said.
The event is free. "And it's worth every penny," he added.
Besides being free, he will give away five signed prints to those whose free raffle tickets are drawn (again, no pun intended).
To reserve your spot e-mail Amber Moss at amoss@mtdemocrat.net or call her at 530-344-5054. The Mountain Democrat is at 1360 Broadway. Take the Schnell School Road exit from Highway 50 eastbound, turn right and look for the large parking lot on the left.

It would be fun to meet the cartoonist, but my work prevents me from leaving. I have always wanted to see the creator of the action.
