By From page A1 | April 17, 2013

A young man found in critical condition laying on a road Saturday morning died later that day.

El Dorado County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a suspicious circumstance at 4:19 a.m. on April 13, only to find a young male lying on Sand Ridge Road in Somerset, a press release states. The 17-year-old was in critical condition and rushed to Marshall Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

EDSO has determined the young man’s identity and his family has been made aware of his death. However, due to pending investigation, his identity is being withheld.

The victim had reportedly been walking from the Gopher Hole Road area that morning. Gopher Hole Road intersects with Bucks Bar Road near the intersection of Bucks Bar and Mt. Aukum roads.

“Detectives were advised that the young man was walking toward a friend’s house on Sand Ridge Road, prior to being discovered injured and lying on the roadway,” the press release states.

Although the official cause of injury has not been determined, the injuries were consistent with being struck by a vehicle.

Witnesses or anyone with information are urged to contact Detective Jon Densmore at 530-642-4718.
