What a fantastic educational program for both the 5th graders and the special needs kids. The kids are learning biology and ecology, getting field experience, and having fun. I feel sorry for the first commenter and his hostility to science education. He probably feels insecure about his own education to lash out like this and turn it into a political issue.

What a great experience for these young people! I love the idea of students teaching each other, working together and learning about the importance of clean water for all – salmon included. Many students with special needs are often left behind or not given the chance to succeed. Many thanks to Kari Richards and the Innovations in Environmental Education Fund (not public funding) for providing this amazing opportunity to our youth.

With this kind of “curriculum” is it any wonder kids cannot read, write, spell or give correct change for a five dollar bill? What a waste of students time. This should be a voluntary after school program instead of an indoctrination into enviro MANAGEMENT or a prep school, paid for by us taxpayers, to grow more useless Government BS programs and more job-killing bureaucrats.
