Around 9:30 p.m. Saturday night, several 911 calls reported an incident involving a shooting in the area of Brockway Avenue near the intersection of Rubicon Trail in South Lake Tahoe.

Once on scene, South Lake Tahoe Police officers had at least one report that a male adult shot at a second male adult during an argument outside the suspect’s residence, a press release stated. The intended victim was quickly identified by officers. He had not sustained any injury.

The victim said that the incident had started as a dispute, explaining that he had confronted the suspect at the suspect’s doorstep regarding damage to the victim’s vehicle. The suspect drew a revolver, aiming it at the victim. The victim turned and ran. He heard a single gunshot fired, but was able to escape harm. The victim and witnesses believed the suspect to have fled on foot.

SLTPD officers, assisted by El Dorado County Sheriff’s deputies and CHP officers, began setting up a perimeter and using a K9 unit in an attempt to track the suspect. While establishing the perimeter, the suspect ran into the street on Rubicon Trail. In the presence of officers, the suspect shot himself in the head. He was confirmed deceased on the scene. Officers did a sweep through the suspect’s house to confirm that there had been no other victims.

An investigation was still taking place as of Saturday. The press release noted that only two shots appear to have been fired by the suspect. The first round had not been accounted for. There were no further suspects and the name of the deceased suspect has not yet been released.

Any witnesses or those with pertinent information related to this matter are encouraged to call SLTPD at 530-542-6100 and refer to case number 1301-0592.

Now he's a good idiot! Saved us taxpayers. At least he had the courage to do it himself instead of making the LEOs do it.
