In a surprise announcement at the Feb. 19 meeting, Sean Tucker, president of the Cameron Park Community Services District, said he was resigning from the board, effective immediately.

A board member since June of 2011 when he was appointed to take the place of another director, last November Tucker ran for office and was elected to the board. He has been serving as president since December of last year.

In a written statement, Tucker said, “I have done my best to represent the interests of all our residents and work as hard as I possibly could on the business of the district. After almost three years on the board I have reached a point where I need to devote more time and energy to my professional and family life. This has been a difficult decision but I believe it is the right one for myself and the CSD.”

Tucker went on to thank and acknowledge the staff of the district, board members and the residents of Cameron Park.

Mary Cahill, who is the general manager for the CSD, said Tucker will be missed. “He did an excellent job on the board and was well-respected,” she said.

Cahill said it will be up to the board to decide whether to appoint someone to fill the position or to leave it vacant until November and then allow the voters to elect who will fill it along with the other three board positions that come open.

Director Scott McNeil has already indicated he intends to run for the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors. Directors Shiva Frentzen and Greg Stanton haven’t said if they will run again or not.
