Brian K. Veerkamp, a 54-year resident of El Dorado County and candidate for District 3 Supervisor, will host a Campaign Headquarters opening event on Sept. 5 at 76 Main Street in Placerville at 5:30 p.m. Former candidates Al Hamilton and Cathy Nerwinski will be attending to announce their support for Brian. Refreshments will be available. Brian has also announced he will, if elected, refuse the salary and benefits for the position, thus turning it back to the taxpayers.
Veerkamp achieved the highest number of votes out of the six candidates in the primary on June 5 and has since been campaigning with the assistance of a “Grass Roots” Campaign Committee consisting of a broad base of community supporters.
Veerkamp, a fifth generation decedent from the pioneer Veerkamp and Wagner families, recently retired after 30 years in public emergency services, culminating with his last position as fire chief of the El Dorado Hills Fire Department.
He served 14 years as an elected board member with the Caminio Union School District, eight of those years as board president. He served three years as a board member of the El Dorado County Emergency Services Authority JPA, with the last two years as board chairman.
Veerkamp believes in service above self and making a difference for the benefit of others.
