Western Placerville Interchanges construction underway

From page A14 | January 18, 2013 | 3 Comments

Construction of the Western Placerville Interchanges Phase 1A Project is underway — a $7 Million project to construct a new onramp from Ray Lawyer Drive westbound onto Highway 50. Fair Lane will be shifted northerly to make way for the new onramp and auxiliary lane, and realigned to smooth out the sharp curve near the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department. A portion of the road has been closed while the contractor constructs retaining walls, storm drain and sewer pipeline facilities, saving taxpayer money on traffic control costs.

Due to the significant weather experienced in November and December, the road closure has been extended to Feb. 4, 2013, barring additional weather delays. To view the closure location and alternate routes available to nearby businesses and the County Government Center, or to view Project information, go to The project is planned to be suspended for the winter following completion of the Fair Lane work, and major grading operations to construct the onramp will commence in the spring, with the project to be complete by late summer. Please contact the City of Placerville Engineering Division at 530-642-5250 for further information.

This will be fun when you are trying to get off at Placerville Drive going west and you have to worry about the traffic coming off of the new Ray Lawyer offramp. Especially at 5:00 p.m.
