Barbara Walton, 72, of El Dorado, was traveling eastbound on the windy road at 3:05 p.m. at an unknown rate of speed in her 1996 maroon or red-silver Dodge Ram when she struck a dirt embankment, CHP Officer Quinn Cuthbertson said.
The cause of her death, however, remains unknown and there were no witnesses to the accident. “It is unknown whether it was the collision or an unknown medical condition,” he said. Despite attempts to revive Walton, she was declared dead at the scene.
The cause of death is still under investigation.
