A woman died in a solo vehicle rollover soon after she was in a non-injury collision on Jan. 25.

Nancy Clampitt, 58, of Kyburz, was driving a 2001 Jeep Wrangler when she was involved in a non-injury collision with another car, a CHP press release stated.

After exchanging information with Clampitt, the other driver noticed that she may have been driving under the influence of alcohol and contacted CHP. Before law enforcement could arrive, however, Clampitt informed the other driver she was on her way to a funeral and left the scene.

Clampitt was driving northbound on Cold Springs Road south of Browns Road at an unknown speed when her vehicle drifted to the left and off the road. The car hit a mailbox, continued off the road, struck a tree and went down a slight embankment. The car overturned and came to a rest in the clearing of a private residence.

Clampitt was not wearing a seatbelt, causing her to eject from the vehicle. She sustained fatal injuries as a result.
