Dec. 25, 1931 — Sept. 24, 2012
Art Stokes, born Dec. 25, 1931, in Streeter, N.D., passed away on Sept. 24, 2012, in Placerville. He is survived by his wife, Gwen Stokes; his children, Patty Stokes, Steve Stokes and Bethany Stokes Hendricks; and four grandchildren.
A graduate of Jamestown College in North Dakota, Art taught K-12 music for 20 years before moving his family to California in 1979 in search of warmer climes. He was well known in Placerville as the local piano tuner. He was a talented musician, a teacher, a businessman, a prankster, a lover of Beagles and Bassets and a proud father. He will be missed.
A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, Sept. 30, at 11 a.m., at the Chapel of the Pines, 2855 Cold Springs Road in Placerville. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Snowline Hospice or the Alzheimer’s Association. Online condolences may be posted to chapelofthepinesfunerals.com.
