Barbara Miller

July 14, 1928 — June 18, 2012

Barbara A. Miller was born on July 14,1928, in Nicolaus, Calif., to Theodore and Claudine Rolufs. With loved ones by her side, she passed away peacefully from a stroke on June 18, 2012. She graduated from East Nicolaus High School and Yuba College in Marysville. She worked in the insurance field until her children were born, returning to work in 1963 for the El Dorado County Building Department. She retired as Assistant Director of the El Dorado County Community Development Department in 1987.

Upon moving to Camino in 1958, Barbara became involved in her children’s activites, including 4-H, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Booster Club, Little League and American Field Service. She was past president of the Camino PTA, a member of the Camino School Board of Trustees and a member of the Native Daughters of the American West. Barbara enjoyed tennis, golf, camping, dancing and traveling, but mostly genealogy. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She had a big heart and will be greatly missed.

Barbara is survived by her son, Tim Miller (Carol Bowden); daughter, Suzie Herman (David); granddaughters, Charlotte Willis (James) and Alicia Schenck (Craig); sister, Jean Stone; brother, Julian Rolufs (Nancy); sister-in-law, Marilyn Seratte; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by Ed, her husband of 57 years. Her family would like to extend a very special Thank You to all of the staff at Western Slope Health Center and to Marshall Hospital.

A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 5, at 2 p.m., at Chapel of the Pines in Placerville. Please come with stories to share. Donations may be made to Marshall Foundation, P.O. Box 1996, Placerville, CA 95667 or the charity of your choice.
