April 20, 1954 – July 31, 2013

Brett “Bubba” Devere Ream age 59, of Placerville, CA. passed away surrounded by his loving family on July 31, 2013 in San Francisco, CA. He was born April 20, 1954 in Cherokee, OK to Floyd and Elizabeth Ream.

Brett is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Jeanie Ream; his two daughters, Mandy Ream (Cameron Turner) and Jamie Ream (Garret Voorhees); three grandchildren, Brooke, Madison and James; sister Heidi Herron (Byron); sister-in -law Lonnie Jackson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.

His father Floyd Ream, mother Elizabeth Jones, brother Matt Ream and sister Kimberli Baker precede him in death.

Brett loved helping others, he was a man that would give you the shirt off his back and is known for his big heart, compassion and witty sense of humor which many referred to as “Reamisms”. He worked in law enforcement 37 years beginning as a Deputy Sheriff for Kern County Sheriff’s Dept. with 5 years in Search and Rescue, and later as a Correctional Officer for El Dorado County Sheriff’s Dept. where he retired. He moved his family from Bakersfield, CA to Pollock Pines, CA in 1991; then to Placerville, CA in 2006. He was a devoted loving husband, father, son, brother and friend; and he will be greatly missed. His biggest passion was spending time with his family and taking family vacations to Hawaii. He felt a strong and spiritual connection to the Hawaiian culture and believed he was Hawaiian in a former life. He loved cooking and gardening, and could take anything and make it into a culinary work of art.

A celebration of life will be held at Green Valley Community Church on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 1:00 pm, located at 3500 Missouri Flat Rd. in Placerville, CA. A buffet reception will follow. Brett’s wishes were to have his ashes spread on the island of Oahu surrounded by his loving ohana (family).

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at El Dorado Savings Bank to assist the family and offset costs. Please make donations in the name Brett Ream Memorial Fund, Acct. #20100704. Donations may be made at any El Dorado Savings Bank.

A special thank you to the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Dept. and THRIVE for all the love and support they have shown.
