Bruce Jay Hastings went home to be with his Lord after fully living life. He began his journey with Jack E. Hastings (who preceded him in death) and Roselind J. Hastings (surviving him), joining his two sisters, Linda (Huber) and Bonnie (DeShields). He earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from California State University of Northridge. He deeply appreciated friendships developed over the years working at Lockheed, Dart Industries, El Dorado County, Property Tax Associates and the Sacramento County Tax Assessor’s office.
Bruce was known for his fun loving spirit, immeasurable strength, compassion and deep love for the Lord and his family. Music was the language of his soul (he had 4,119 songs on his mp3 player) and traveling was his greatest adventure. He devoted a number of years to helping the divorced and widowed through the Beginning Experience Ministry, where he met and married the love of his life, Cindy Meleton Colgin Hastings. Together, he and Cindy savored time with their children, Joy (Norm), Roy (Angi), Jacob (Sarah), Ryan (Heather), Hannah, and Janell; 10 grandchildren; and their extended church family.
Bruce drew much hope from Isaiah 40:31 and his prayer for all is best expressed in Ephesians 3:16-21. His life will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 11, at 10 a.m., at Christian Life Center, 5723 Pony Express Court in Pollock Pines, Calif.
