Carlene Coveington older

April 3, 1928 — March 25, 2011

Carlene Covington, 82, loving sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at Placerville Pines on March 25, 2011, due to complications of COPD. She was born April 3, 1928, in Midwest, Wyo., to Carl and Dorothy Tillson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Jean Tillson Vogeli (Jim, brother-in-law, deceased); her sons, Richard Carl Covington and Gerald Vernon Covington; and daughter, Joan Marie Covington Greene.

Carlene moved from Sacramento to Placerville in approximately 1959 when she and her husband (deceased) owned and operated Buck's Bar and Campground in Placerville, Calif. Years later she worked as the manager of Ridgeview Manor in Placerville. She was a Christian who professed her love for the Lord. She loved her parents, her sisters and all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much. She never forgot to say "I love you" at the end of a conversation. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, crocheting, sewing, gardening (especially her roses), cribbage, playing solitaire on the computer and doing projects on her computer, playing the piano, singing, game shows, whistling, fishing and sledding. Later in life she attended American River College where she attained certificates for computer-based courses.

Carlene is survived by her sisters, Maxine Tillson Stevens (Dale, brother-in-law, deceased) of Saratoga, Calif., and Natalie Tillson Kramer (Bud, brother-in-law) of Sacramento, Calif.; son, Bruce Leroy Covington (Sandra) of Placerville, Calif., and his children, Anthony Covington, Carla Covington and Lynda Covington; son, James Leon Covington of Placerville, Calif., and his children, Ashley, Jessica and James Covington; son, William Lee Covington of Crescent City, Ore.; daughter, Sharon Covington Kukay Nill of Meridian, Idaho, and her children, Jennifer Kukay Kirk (Kirby), Kevin "Kuke" Kukay (Lisa) and Tiffany Kukay Thomason (Heath); daughter, Donna Jean Covington Ingram of Lakeside, Calif., and her children, Danielle Ingram Villicanabedolla (Jesus) and Audra Ingram Asmussen (James); daughter, Carlene Sue Covington Dowdy (Steve) of Edgecomb, Maine, and their children, Stephen Dowdy Jr. (Ashley), Richard Dowdy, Christopher Dowdy (Kayla, friend), Randy Dowdy (Krystyle) and Kelly Dowdy Bird (Rylan); daughter, Christine Louise Covington Fuentes Mills (Dwayne) of Fairbanks, Ala., and their children, Bobby Covington (Celine), Gerritt Fuentes, Nolan Fuentes, Christopher Fuentes and Blain Chism; daughter, Karen Covington Todd (Harold) and their children, Sean Eckhoff and Briana Todd of Sacramento, Calif. Carlene is also survived by 21 great-grandchildren and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She will be sorely missed by all of her family and friends.

A memorial will be held at Placerville Union Cemetary on Sunday, April 3, at 1:30 p.m.
