Dec. 14, 1975 — Aug. 15, 2012
Christopher “Jason” Merrill, 36, of Sacramento, Calif., passed away too soon on Wednesday, Aug. 15, 2012, at UCSF Medical Center. He was born in Placerville, Calif., on Dec. 14, 1975, the son of June and Gordon Merrill.
Jason graduated from Amador High School in 1994. He played football and baseball during high school and went on to play football for two years at Delta Jr. College. He was the best son, brother and uncle. He loved his family and would have done anything in the world for them. He was also a great friend and very social. He enjoyed just hanging out with friends and family because that’s important. Jason was a heavy equipment operator for Operators Engineers Union for the past nine years. His job enabled him to travel throughout the United States and he appreciated the adventure it brought into his life. He was a hard worker, dependable, reliable and an asset to his company. He was a huge lifelong San Francisco Giants and San Francisco 49ers fan.
Jason is survived by his parents, June and Gordon Merrill; grandmother, Estella Carter; sister, Stacy Merrill; brother, Travis Merrill; nieces, Jamie Merrill, Kayla Merrill and Kylee Merrill; nephews, Colton Merrill, DJ Ogden, Taylen Brooks and Wyatt Brooks, all of Mt. Aukum; and many friends, cousins, aunts and uncles. He was preceded by his grandparents, Bob and Maye Merrill; and grandfather, Thurman Carter.
Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, Aug. 25, at 12 p.m., at the Merrill family ranch in Mt. Aukum. Memorial contributions may be made to jrgiants.org or 49ersfoundation.com. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting danerimortuary.com and signing the guest book.
