Danny Jay Gwinnup was born Oct. 27, 1939, in San Andreas, Calif., and passed away peacefully at home on Aug. 1, 2014. He attended Stockton College before beginning a career at Aerojet and also worked as a timber faller. He served in the National Guard and the Reserves. He belonged to the California State Racing Pigeon Organization (CSRPO) and the Mother Lode Sportsman’s Club.

Danny leaves behind his loving wife, Margaret; his daughters, Debra Ercolini of Ione, Calif., and Karen Bishop of Placerville, Calif.; grandchildren, Devon and Ashley Ercolini and Catherine and Christopher Bishop; his sister, Rhea of Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.

All are invited to a memorial service on Thursday, Sept. 18, at 1 p.m., at Green Valley Community Church, 3500 Missouri Flat Road in Placerville. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Danny’s name to the Scholarship Fund of the CA State Racing Pigeon Organization Ladies Auxiliary, Attn: Fay Leighton, 9923 Salmon Creek Road, Redding, CA 96003.
