Donald passed away from complications from diabetes and heart disease. His devoted wife of 58 years, Joe Ann, preceded him in death in 2009. Donald had eight siblings. He is survived by two sisters, Luella Roenfeldt of Diamond Springs, Calif., and Shirley (Len) Miller of Ashland, Ore. He also leaves a large extended family of nieces, nephews and friends.
Donald was born in Prairie Grove, Ark., and moved to Placerville as a teenager. Shortly after moving he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. He was very proud of his service to our country and liked telling stories about the time he served in Japan. After his discharge he worked in the lumber industry for 60 years before his retirement.
Donald was a kind, loving man. He had a special relationship with the Lord. He lived his life in peace and love. He will be missed by his friends and family. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
