Nov. 14, 1931 — July 9, 2012
Former El Dorado county resident Jean (Arnold) Williams passed away on July 9, 2012, at age 80. In 1932, when Jean was a baby, the Arnold family moved from Oklahoma to El Dorado. She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1949 and spent most of her adult life in El Dorado County where she raised her family.
Jean worked many years at the Diamond Springs Lime Company. She married George Williams in 1975 and they moved to Alaska. She fished commercially for salmon in Cook Inlet near Anchorage, and came to love Alaska intensely. While she loved living in Alaska, she loved and missed her very large extended family, many of whom still live in El Dorado County. She was proud of her Oklahoma heritage and had attended a large family reunion just days before her death.
Jean is survived by her son, Robert (Butch) Hallford; her daughter, Cindy (Hallford) Matthias; grandchildren, Kate, Kelsey, Megan and Nick; and great-granddaughter, Sawyer. She will be missed by the many who knew and loved her.
