Frank Palmer Chapman, Jr., our beloved father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2013. Born July 24, 1922, in Santa Monica, Calif., Palmer lived to be 90. He was a decorated Air Force World War II Aviator serving in the Pacific Theater, Europe, China and India. He attended Montana State College during his Army Air Corp. service and radio school in Sioux Falls, S.D. He was a member of the El Dorado Community Church and lived in Placerville for 38 years. He retired from McDonald Douglas and loved square dancing and softball leagues. He served on the STAR patrol and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Palmer was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Mary. He was the father of Frank Chapman III, Diane Apodaca and Maggie; brother of Kay Elliott; grandfather of Shannon Chapman, Stacie Chapman-Bohnsack, Jenny Barnes and Katie Lopez; great-grandfather of Ava Lopez, Gavin Lopez and Lyla Bohnsack; father-in-law of Marilynn Chapman, Steve Apodaca and Frank; and is also survived by many close friends.
Memorial services will be held tomorrow, Thursday, June 27, at 3 p.m., at the El Dorado Community Church, 4701 Church Street in El Dorado, Calif. Private interment has been held at the El Dorado Cemetery in El Dorado. Friends are invited to leave condolences and sign an electronic guestbook at chapelofthepinesfunerals.com.
