Harold Ben Ellis Jr. passed away in Sacramento from pneumonia. He was born in Meshoppen, Penn., to Harold B. Ellis and Savannah Ellis. He was married 40 years to the late Maxine Ritchison.
Harold (Hal) is survived by Dennis Ritchison, his wife, Arline and their children, Michael, Valerie, Lisa and Tim and Carl Blake, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Harold was very proud of Kim Quaco, whose young mother was very ill, thousands of miles from relatives in need of someone caring for her young son when she was unable. As a neighbor and a friend, Hal stepped up. Kim moved to the East Coast with an aunt and uncle, and Hal would travel by bus to visit him. He grew up to be a fine man with a fine family.
Hal was a World War II veteran of the Army-Air Corps, serving in North Africa as a member of the Flying Tigers. After the war he joined the Navy. From there he settled in Santa Clara, Calif., working in the electronics industry, becoming a Quality Control Engineer after attending DeAnza College. He finished his career with Lockheed in Sunnyvale, Calif.
Hal lived in the Placerville and El Dorado areas for the last 35 years. He played golf, loved fishing, became a STAR volunteer (and loved it), played senior baseball, became a Mason and loved the San Francisco 49ers and Giants.
We love and miss you!
