Irene G. Sanford (McCartney) passed away in Placerville on July 31, 2013. She is survived by her two sons, Norman and Fred; and daughters-in-law, Kathy, Stacey and Margie. She has four grandchildren, Samantha, Michael, Ben and Chris; and two great-grandchildren, Janette and Xander.
One occupation Irene was always proud of is serving as one of the Rosie the Riveters, building airplanes during World War II. Otherwise, her pride was her family and she enjoyed organizing many family gatherings over her many years. Her home was always a sanctuary for all the young people of the family.
A graveside service for Irene will be held on Friday, Aug. 9, at 11 a.m., at Westwood Hills Memorial Park, 2720 Cold Springs Road in Placerville. Contributions in Irene’s name may be made to Habitat for Humanity at habitat.org. Arrangements entrusted to Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home in Placerville.
