Jeremy Lawrence Heist lost his battle against cancer on the morning of Nov. 23, 2013, at his home in Placerville. He was 33 years old. Born on Oct. 11, 1980, in Dallas, Texas, he moved to Camino, Calif., in 1987 and El Dorado County became his home for most of the years following.
Jeremy’s vivacious smile was the first thing you noticed about him, whether you met him through his profession as a respected contract painter, encountered his tenacity on the local basketball courts or were lucky enough to see his vibrance in full swing as the drummer for the band The 42 Five. He had the kind of smile that made his eyes dance.
Jeremy was a fearless, loving, generous and accepting friend, brother, son and father. He made those around him want to be a better person and share in his can-do attitude. As a friend described him, Jeremy was a perfect example of how much better the world would be, if each person had just a little bit of the happiness he had inside of him.
Jeremy is survived by his precious son, Mason Heist; his parents, Larry Heist and Marti Mumaw; his brother, Brandon Heist; and his sister, Jamie Berg. He is also survived by one of the strongest brotherhood of friends that one could ask for.
Jeremy’s bright light will be celebrated on the winter solstice, Dec. 21. Please call his sister Jamie Berg for details at 530-363-5626. Online condolences may be posted at chapelofthepinesfunerals.com.
