Juanita Lumley passed away after a long and courageous struggle with breast and brain cancer at Marshall Hospital on May 11, 2013. She is survived by her son, Michael Aja; his father, Chris Lumley; her dear friends, Bill and Karan Cox, Teresa Freeman and Tom Touhy; and the wonderful group of friends who supported her during her lengthy illness. She is also survived by her father, Tommy Hanning; two sisters; a brother; and other family members. She was preceded in death by her mother, Beulah Hanning.
Juanita was born in Blythe, Calif., and lived in the Placerville foothills, which she loved with all her heart, since 1990. She worked at Home Depot until her illness forced her to retire. She was an avid gardener and loved music, cooking, traveling with her friends and having a good time with her friends.
A celebration of Juanita’s life will be held at a later date. Private inurnment has been held. Contributions in her name may be made to Snowline Hospice of El Dorado County, 6520 Pleasant Valley Road, Diamond Springs, CA 95619 (or online at snowlinehospice.org/donate). Arrangements entrusted to Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home in Placerville.
