June 17, 1934 — Sept. 9, 2012
Juna passed away Sept. 9, 2012, of a massive stroke in Hemet, Calif. She was born in Nowata, Okla., on June 17, 1934, to Chester and Iva Hugo. Later that year the family moved to Camino, Calif. Then in 1935 the family moved to Avenal, Calif., where she grew up to high school age. In 1950, the family moved back to Camino, where she finished her schooling.
While at El Dorado High School, some classmates forbade Juna to wear her Avenal High Letter Sweater. She was very active in sports and was very proud of her sweater. She became President of Girls League and had the Bylaws changed, stating that a person who earned a Letter in Sports, no matter where they earned it, could wear that Sweater with their Letter to El Dorado High School. After Juna was out of school she worked as a telephone operator at AT&T in Placerville, Calif., then as a sales clerk at Florence’s Dress Shop in Placerville.
Juna was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Ross of Hemet, Calif.; her parents, Chet and Iva Hugo; her brother, LeRoy Hugo; all of Placerville, Calif. She is survived by her two sons, Rick Ross of Whittier, Calif., and Jeff Ross of Apple Valley, Calif.; her sisters, Clorene Robertson of Amity, Ore., Betty Cobb of Placerville, Norma Riffey of Shingle Springs, Calif., and Colleen Woolf of Rancho Cordova, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
Juna will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. Per her wish there will be no services. Her ashes will be scattered next to her husband’s. Cards may be sent to the Ross family, PO Box 1224, Shingle Springs, CA, 95682.
