May 6, 1916 — Feb. 2, 2011
Katherine Fernelius Larsen left this life for a better world on Wednesday morning, Feb. 2, 2011, at the home of her daughter Karen and husband Duane Miles in El Dorado, Calif., where she had lived the last five years. She was 94 years old. She will be greatly missed, having been a wonderful mainstay and inspiration to so many of her offspring, including her invalid daughter Lynette, 23 grandchildren and 55 great-grandchildren.
Katherine was born in South Weber, Utah May 6, 1916, to Bessie Lenore McGiven and Peter Gustavus Lindberg Fernelius.
Katherine married Rex Farrell Larsen June 16, 1937. She is survived by six children: Karen(Duane) Andrew Miles, Farrell (Sharon), Elaine (Jim) Bennett, Bradley(Ruth), Lynette and Spencer.
Both Katherine and Rex were greatly aided in meeting the challenges of their lives by their strong faith and testimony in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and lifelong service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We believe they have both gone on to great reward and honor.
Katherine is also survived by her two sisters, Doris (Arnold) Finchum and Ruth Rees. A younger brother Albert Lawrence died in 1991. She is also survived by six half-brothers and -sisters from her father’s second marriage after the death of her mother: Esther, Jerry (Roxanna), Blair, Jimmy, Dale and Bonnie.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, Feb. 11, in Bountiful, Utah.
