Feb. 20, 1937 — June 2, 2013

Kathleen Jean Carrick, 76, passed away on Sunday, June, 2, 2013, at Marshall Hospital after suffering from COPD complications. Kathy was born in the small town of Erie, Penn., on Feb. 20, 1937, to Margaret and Vincent Carrick. She was blessed with eight siblings: Patrick, Mary, Shirley, Jim, Rita, Philip, Carol and Christine.

Kathy remained in Pennsylvania until she was a bit older, at which time she and her family moved to Long Beach, Calif. As an adult she, along with her mother and younger sister, Christine, moved to the small town of Placerville. They all enjoyed its natural beauty and small town charm. Soon after moving to Placerville she obtained a position at Foster’s Freeze Creamery, which she enjoyed and was very proud to have.

Although Kathy never married and never had children of her own, she became a wonderful, loving and dedicated mother figure and caregiver to her younger sister, Christine, and many of her nieces and nephews. Many of her family members relied on her for the loving and candid advice she was known for giving, and enjoyed her joyful spirit and unforgettable sense of humor.

Kathy was a social butterfly at heart and loved the company of good friends and family. She had a natural love for animals and owned many beloved pets over the years. She had many friends and enjoyed going on outings and spending time with them. She lived a long life and touched many hearts while she was here. She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

Kathy is survived by her sisters, Shirley Miller, Carol Demann and Rita Kramer; and brother, Patrick Carrick. She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Knockman; her sisters, Mary Crawley and Christine Carrick; and her brothers, Jim Carrick and Philip Carrick.

A memorial service will be held at Chapel of the Pines, 2855 Cold Springs Road in Placerville, Calif., at 1 p.m., on Saturday, June, 22, 2013. Friends and family are encouraged to attend and join in honoring her blessed memory. Online condolences may be posted at
