Lana Reese

Aug. 30, 1942 — Oct. 8, 2013

Born Aug. 30, 1942, Lana Rae Reese lost her battle with cancer on Oct. 8, 2013. Born in Rockford, Ill., she moved to California at an early age where she grew up and attended school, eventually earning her bachelor’s degree in nursing. As an RN she worked in various fields, from hospitals to schools to Hospice care for the terminally ill. Upon retiring, she put these skills and her faith to use in the mission field, working in Jamaica, Kenya and Ethiopia, ministering to those without access to adequate healthcare.

A warm and loving woman, Lana is survived by her husband, James Reese; her two children; five grandchildren; and a host of friends, both local and abroad. A burial service will be held privately, with a memorial service to be held on Oct. 19, at Sun River Baptist Church at 10 a.m. Sun River Baptist Church is located at 11223 Trinity River Drive in Rancho Cordova, Calif. (95670). In lieu of flowers the family requests that a donation to East African Village Outreach (an organization Lana helped found) or any other charitable organization be considered.
