Larry Wells

March 5, 1944 — March 23, 2013

Larry Wells, 69, of El Dorado, Calif., after battling a long illness went home to join the Lord Saturday, March 23, 2013, with his family by his side at Marshall Hospital in Placerville, Calif. A celebration of life will be held Thursday, April 11 at 1 p.m., at Green Valley Community Church in Placerville.

Larry was born March 5, 1944 in Zamora, Calif., to Richard and Maude Wells. He was the youngest of eight and was the last surviving sibling. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1962-1966 and then went on to a career as a civilian at McClellen Air Force Base retiring in 1994 after 35 years of faithful service. He met the love of his life Susan in 1961 and they married in 1963. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary surrounded by more than 150 family, friends and loved ones.

Larry was an active member of Green Valley Community Church, serving in whatever capacity was needed from maintenance crew on Thursdays to ushering the early service 8:30 a.m. on Sundays for the past 10 years. His favorite thing to do was anything with Susan, closely followed by anything with his children or grandchildren. He loved woodworking in his shop, camping, going to the coast with close friends, watching the grandchildren’s sporting events, reading (especially Clive Cussler books), working on this property and watching his Kings play basketball.

Larry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Susan; children, Tamara Middleton (Bryan), David Wells and Kathy Day (Tim); and grandchildren, Jessica Wells, DJ Wells, Bryan Middleton Jr., Andrew Middleton, Jacob Wells, Savannah Day, Stephanie Wells, Joshua Middleton, Alexis Day, Jonathan Wells and Bailey Day.

Husband, Daddy, Papa — You were well loved. You will be missed.

A celebration of Larry’s life will be held Thursday, April 11 at 1 p.m., at Green Valley Community Church in Placerville, 3500 Missouri Flat Road in Placerville, Calif.
