Laurie Young, a retired realtor, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and cherished friend, passed peacefully at home on Oct. 8, 2013. She fought a valiant battle with a recurrence of cancer but was ready to go to see her Lord. She will be remembered by her strength, courage and the graceful way she accepted her diagnosis and made the most out of her time left. She chose to be positive and happy, counting her blessings every day.
Born in Seattle on April 1, 1931, to Elston and Laura Isbell, Laurie is survived by one sister, Eudora (Riley) Folsom; five children, Mike (Gale) Young, Mark (Cindy) Young, Ede (Moses) Pacaldo, Amy (Scott) Ganzert and Carl (Jayme) Young; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister, Lanetta (Fred) Waite; one brother, Dwight (Maxine) Isbell; and her husband of more than 50 years, William “Bill” F. Young.
Services will be held at the El Dorado County Federated Church, 1303 Thompson Way in Placerville, Calif., on Friday, Oct. 18, at 5 p.m. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation to American Cancer Society.
