Lois Aleta Norris was born Jan. 14, 1923, to Charles and Leta Clark of El Dorado. She passed away Nov. 19, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 60 years, Robert V. Norris; her sister, Myrtle Bryant; her grandchild, Gloria; and her great-grandson, Jessie. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Barnes (husband Bill) of Marysville, Wash.; her son, Robert C. Norris (wife Dori) of El Dorado, Calif.; five grandchildren, Carrie, Heather, and David Barnes, Cody Norris and Jackie Huntington; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Lois graduated from El Dorado High School in 1940. She was married Nov. 26, 1941, and moved to Winnemucca, Nev., to ranch. She often stated that one of her favorite times was when she was living on the Andorno ranch. She and Robert returned to El Dorado in 1946 and in 1958 she began her postal career, becoming El Dorado’s Post Master in 1976 and retiring in 1989. Her favorite hobbies were gardening and animals. She enjoyed the El Dorado Chapter of Eastern Star, of which she was a Past Matron and a member for 53 years.
Services will be held at Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home, 2855 Cold Springs Road in Placerville, Calif., on Saturday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m.
