Louis Michael Tomei passed away at home and in peace on Jan. 10, 2014, at the age of 68. Born in Sacramento, Calif., he graduated from Hiram Johnson High School in 1963.
Mike served in the U.S. Navy for two years during the Vietnam War and returned to Sacramento where he married Lois Severin and began to raise his first two children. He married Denise Stroud in 1983 and together they raised their third child in Placerville and the surrounding area. He worked in a number of jobs and industries during his lifetime that included sales and ownership of bars and restaurants.
Mike was the center of his family and was at his happiest when he was in the kitchen cooking for his extended family and friends. He inspired and brought love to everyone who met him. He is survived by his mother, Catherine Tomei; his brother, Bill Tomei; his wife, Denise Tomei; son, Paul Tomei; daughters, Allison Tomei-Bravo and Mallory Tomei; and four grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, Jan. 15, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., at the Pheasant Club in West Sacramento.
