Dec. 29, 1938 — Nov. 22, 2011
On Nov. 22, 2011, Lucy (Jan) Pease Poirier passed away after a second fight with cancer at the home of her daughter in Plymouth, Calif. She was born Dec. 29, 1938, in Springfield, Mass., and moved with her family to the Placerville area in 1948. She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1956 and has stayed a part of the community ever since. She loved to travel, listen to country music and could be found enjoying working around the yard or making beautiful scaled down models of carousel horses.
Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Doris Pease; sister, Barbara; brother, Raymond; and her first husband, Paul Setzer and second husband, Al Poirier III. She is survived by her siblings, Eileen, Shirley, Robert, Bill and Bruce; her children, Valerie Wegat of Chester, Calif., Lana Williams of Los Molinos, Calif., Dennis Setzer of Fair Oak, Calif., and Janice Poirier of Plymouth, Calif.; beloved grandsons, Darian, Bailey, Alex and Jeremiah; and great-grandchildren, Alexis, Cody, Matthew, Jeremiah II, Chelsea, Megan, Michael, Collin and Mariah. During her illness she showed amazing personal strength by refusing to feel sorry for herself and will be missed by all of us who love her.
Services will be held at 1 p.m., on Dec. 20, at Green Valley Community Church, located at 3500 Missouri Flat Road in Placerville. It was Lucy’s wish that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Green Valley Community Church in her name.
