March 19, 1928 — Aug. 6, 2012
Marie D. Rogers, a 37 year resident of Placerville, passed away in Davis on Aug. 6, 2012. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Charles; sons, Craig of Sacramento and Brian of Davis; Brians’s wife, Sandra; grandchildren, Lorena and Brandon; and nieces and nephews in Maryland, Florida and Idaho.
Marie was born in Bryn Mahr, Pa., graduated from Coatesville, Pa., High School and attended Temple University. She was working in Wilmington, Del., when she met Charles. They were married in Delaware. She had never been west of Pennsylvania until they moved to California in 1957. She was a very devoted homemaker and moved her aging parents, William and Anne Doherty, west to Placerville and cared for them. Many El Dorado High students, friends of her children visited their home, thinking of Marie as their other mother. She is widely loved and remembered as a part of their lives.
A private family memorial was held at Davis cemetery on Aug. 10.
