Marie Josephine Schmidt, 78, passed away on Dec. 31, 2013, in Cameron Park, Calif., after a brave fight with lung and heart disease. Born July 22, 1935, in San Francisco, Calif., she was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Frank and Josephine Castillo; and her beloved brother, Frank Jr. Castillo.
Marie graduated from Balboa High School in San Francisco, where she met many life-long friends. She was a Pacific Bell Yellow Page salesperson for 29 years, winning many awards for her outstanding work and achievements. She loved her family, friends, home, garden and pets. She also loved to golf, swim, play Rummy Que with the girls, be part of the Cameron Park Newcomers Club and so much more. She is survived by two daughters, Kathy Schmidt and Susan Castillo Schmidt; sister, Betty Larson; and many nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will take place on Friday, Jan. 10, at 2 p.m., at Green Valley Funeral and Cemetery in Rescue, Calif. Marie will be missed by all who knew her. Her incredible spirit, even until the end, will never be forgotten.
