Mary Cannon

Dec. 22, 1915 — Dec. 28, 2012

Our much loved mother, grandmother and friend, Mary G. Cannon, 97, passed away in her sleep with her devoted children, Frank Leonis and Anita Lenzini, by her side in South Lake Tahoe on Dec. 28, 2012. Mary was born in Los Angeles, Calif., on Dec. 22, 1915. She lived a challenging childhood. She married at a young age, had five children and raised five step children as well. She worked at a shipyard for years and a paper mill for 15 years to provide a better life for her children. She married Lloyd Cannon in 1967 and enjoyed traveling the western states with him in their retirement.

Two of Mary’s favorite things in life were singing and dancing. She also loved to crochet, collect rocks and shells by the ocean, her little dogs and bingo. She was a very devoted Christian — she loved the Lord and always had a smile and hug for everyone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Cannon; and her children, Bobby Leonis, David Leonis and Paul Corral.

Mary’s family is especially grateful to the staff at Barton Skilled Nursing Facility for their warm, loving care; daughter Anita Lenzini and grandson David Moreno for their tireless blessed care; and the many family members who visited Mary over the years. She leaves precious memories to be cherished by her children, Frank Leonis and Anita Lenzini; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many beloved friends.

We will all miss Mary’s sweet voice calling us “Mijito” or “Mijita” and will forever remember her three favorite words, “Yo Quiero Mucho.”
Her family will hold a private celebration of her life at a later date. In lieu of flowers any donations are much appreciated made in Mary’s name to the Barton Skilled Nursing Facility at 2170 South Avenue, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150.
